About Me

Ziyad El Abid

I'm Ziyad El Abid, a full-stack software engineer based in Casablanca, Morocco. I've spent nearly four years at Theodo Maroc, mostly working with Java / Spring Boot on the backend and React / Next.js (TypeScript) on the frontend.

What drives me is making the product genuinely better — faster queries, tighter security, smoother user flows — and doing it with quality that lasts: well-tested code, honest reviews, and clean architecture. I've also had two open source pull requests merged intoSentryand Jest, and I enjoy helping junior developers get up to speed.

Experience

Software Engineer — Theodo Maroc (Casablanca, 2022 – present)

Container Logistics Platform (01/2026 – present)
Designed and implemented pagination and lazy loading for container data, wrote complex SQL queries to power dynamic filter logic, and helped optimize a query that took over 30s down to 6s.

Home Loan Platform (04/2025 – 12/2025)
Brought SQL query response time down from 1.2s to ~300ms (-75%), closed critical security vulnerabilities, built scalable rate-limiting, split the CI/CD pipeline into modular jobs, and used TDD to keep bug fixes from causing regressions.

Investment Onboarding Platform (02/2025 – 04/2025)
Cleared out database defects with targeted SQL fixes, gave dependable effort estimates on a client epic, and mentored a newly onboarded junior developer.

Medical Decision Support Widgets (04/2024 – 02/2025)
Built and integrated embeddable clinical widgets, keeping the code testable and maintainable, and fixed production incidents reported by clients.

Loyalty Program Platform (05/2024 – 08/2024)
Built both the customer-facing platform and the back office for a loyalty program, wrote end-to-end tests in Cypress, and wired up auth flows through Keycloak.

Car Rental Platform (02/2024 – 04/2024)
Took test coverage on a legacy codebase from 10% to 75% and tuned SQL queries to handle millions of records without slowing down.

Mortgage Interest Calculator (01/2023 – 02/2024)
Built a dynamic matrix calculating mortgage interest across several factors and reworked a data export from 5s down to ~400ms.
